What did we find? WARM WEATHER! We're parked at convenient RV resort in N. FT Myers, FL!! And more fun begins........
Just to catch you up after last blog, Kathy's sinus problem improves & she did enjoy Tampa Super RV show. Sent out update today, but if you don't receive it, let us know at flakeysmagic@gmail.com or if you have Hughes address, contact us with it.
Had just said there were no problems when H came in MH & said he broke off front tire on his Flakeymobile (a handicap cart enhanced by Flakey's ideas, & Blue Ox professional work)!! It is getting bedraggled as we carry it around & he is planning to paint it.......well, then it breaks!! Off he went to his favorite mobility sales place & they had exact same handicap cart he could buy, OR they could repair for higher cost? He purchased for very reasonable fee & is bz fixing up box part with all his "flakey" equipment & will place it on newer cart! He is happy as now if something breaks he will have spare parts!! Things happen, but then we "luck out"!!
We sched. a couple specialist appnts when here. K. needed blood test & first time she hesitatingly handed over new Humana card at Hosp Lab. Ohhh how she fought having Humana, but thankful to have Ins! There was problem, but after call to Humana today, she is not to worry at this time. But, check out PFFS Terms. If Medicare says Medicare clients use Lab Corps & Quest & contract w/them - THEN Ins may change if some like K's has not changed yet. Had a good, long conversation with Humana Rep!! Now K feels better about new Ins.

Thawing out.........

Maybe long "freeze" in S. is over? We are still parked at Brandon Elk's Lodge & did get to move from 20 to 30 amp site!! Not sure when H last serviced hot water tank, but water poured out of it. Luckily there is a guy parked here who services rv's. He obtained needed valve & cleaned up the area. It works now on electric & haven't tried it on LP as that was used up Weds. evening.
Now we can use small heater & hot water tank is turned off when not used..
I mentioned EMS earlier. It displays amps we have & use.
Flakey has spent entire days since Tues. performing at Tampa RV show!! (sponsored by Blue Ox). He loves to perform & as he clowns around he is receiving exciting news re new gigs:) :) More campgrounds in ME & FL are planning to call - it is too crowded & hectic at Show to schedule now. Good news is Flakey will perform at Passport America's FIRST RV rally at Crestview, FL (located in Fl Panhandle end of March!!!)
K has stayed in mostly as sinus/cold lingers & need to stay away from crowds due to meds taken for RA. 3 days left to enjoy the show & crowd usually thins Fri aft.... Stay tuned.......

Big Freeze in South

Southern states do experience cold at times, but "freeze" continues & destroying crops!!! Rains last yr & into this yr were unusual too, so when we leave GA where cotton/peanuts still in fields (Farmers had problems getting into muddy fields & when they could get in cotton pickers burn up in cold weather. Heard 6 burned during 1 week in an area) Usually Fl farmers handle a freeze by spraying water, etc., etc. When freeze continues, they can lose!!! School children in Tampa not used to wearing heavy winter clothing, & most don't have any!!! Folks can "layer", but heavier clothes needed. Again, as we keep saying, is this Global warming?" It's "change" & last yr S. wasn't too warm. With fuel costs rising, add that to higher prices for fresh veggies, fruit, peanut products, cotton goods?
Prior to leaving GA, young farmer gave us "deer link sausage" & last yr, it was "pan sausage". Yummie!!!!

We left late at 2:00 p.m., Sat from Unadilla. Reason? Different things we forgot & returned to storage to retrieve them. I-75 S., usually has backed up traffic, especially through construction, but seemed we almost had highway to ourselves. We just mosied on through. Arrived at White Springs, FL, Exit 439, & parked at Lee's Country Campground - a pretty place where we parked yrs. ago. The younger lady always working so hard & we would recommend park as A plus. They take Passport America (1/2 price) & had full hook ups (50 amps)!! ahhhh ..They take other discounts also. She has been there 20 yrs & remembers us.

Sun., returned to I-75, debated re topping propane as only down 1/4 tank.....BIG mistake not to fill up!! When crossing Fl line saw diesel prices in Fl at $2.99 & know that is higher in other states. Got to Elk's lodge at Brandon, Fl. Every time we called earlier were told there would be plenty of room. NOT! New hookups not completed & we were lucky to get only 20 amps! We watch EMS to not go over 20 amps, & of course, use propane we had not planned to use. Our TV & Internet dishes have good view of Southern sky & that makes us VERY happy. They may get 50 amp sites installed yet this week?
Got set up, went to "not good" Mex rest. to eat, then off to visit Aunt & cousin, but left their address in MH (:(: Aunt's # in cell phone would not go through. Finally, H called & something worked!! Enjoyed nice visit, although late. Always fun visiting K's cousin Judy, her mother, Annette, & Judy's daughter, Catherine. Aunt Annette has memory like an elephant!! We will see them again before leaving Tampa, but today H is getting more info re Tampa Super RV show at fairgrounds, & need to shop at a close Sam's club. Did you catch a pattern of "forgetting?". Dr says, that's why we have pencils!!!

We are Flexible.........

We were going to Albuquerque FMCA rally, but now we are not going & that's ok. Lots of miles. Fuel costs are rising again. Will miss seeing friends, & they always understand. We say we are flexible & we are. We've been phoning back/forth with Flakey's sponsor. Blue Ox, Pender, NE.

Now we will spend a little more time in Fl & return again to Unadilla, GA., in March instead of April. We love traveling, but if you check www.flyingj.com, click on diesel & you will see gas, diesel, propane costs throughout U.S. Holidays over, it is not summer or weekend & this evening we pd $2.57, & other stations charging $2.65. Check prices in state of WA!! Wonder if this is double dip recession talked about earlier. Whatever, we do not want to be out West again when fuel prices go higher!! Also, we've been making plans to return to Bar Harbor area this summer again with some changes in timing. Mgr sent letter of recommendation to other Affinity parks in area & Flakey will be performing weekends 7/1/10 to 8/15/10, at 2 parks there. This evening we enjoyed Mexican food at a REAL Mexican restaurant at Cordele, GA. Their prices are reasonable & next door to it is a place called "Fred's". Cashier said there are other stores in their chain. Kathy enjoys shopping at Fred's. It is similar to a small "Big Lots". A variety of items, & not high prices.

Freezing in GA

Weather here at Unadilla is cold - 20's during night. Daytime highs in 40's. So this is Global warming???? "Locals" say cold weather unusual, plus last year brought heavy, heavy rains!! Hope weather improves, & they say it will - after we leave Fri. Just our luck!!
We use 2 small heaters in Motorhome at night & use very little propane as we have 50 amps!
Enjoy watching full moon & it was Blue Moon New Year's eve. Skies clear, bright stars, & hopefully rain has ended!! Farmer's do not have all cotton/peanuts in, & we see lots of farming equipment in fields now - even at night!! Sad for farmers, but they say they adjust to changes. They plan for good & bad years.
Still working on sorting "stuff" to lighten load. Decisions, decisions!!
Kathy's fighting headache/cough since Christmas. May be sinus. Did get swine flu shots at Cordele Walgreen's given by Pharmacist. Reg. flu shots were given by registered nurse at Walgreen's in Heath, OH as we were leaving. "One stop shop" is very convenient!!

Counting down...............

Time goes fast. Plan to leave Unadilla, GA., Fri. a.m. Kathy drags feet, but we always make it - although it may be noon!!!

Lots to do. Will be on the road for 3 mos., & need to clean MH & store "stuff" we don't need.

That is a problem at times. There is much discussion re what stays & what goes :) :).

Friends are asking when we will be in their area. Here is Flakey's sched. for first 3 mos of 2010.

Tampa Super RV Show, Tampa, Fl State Fairgrounds, 1/13 -1/17, 2010. Park at Elk's Lodge, Brandon, Fl. Plan to stay at Southwind Village, N. Ft. Myers, following Tampa.

FMCA Southeast Area Rally, Brooksville, FL (SEA Rally), 2/3-2/7, 2010. Plan to head West from Brooksville. Any sightseeing or off route visiting to AZ will probably be mid-Feb to mid-March.
